What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants use outside tools. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and many others support it. FormSMTP runs a remote MCP server, so there is nothing to install.
Which AI apps work with FormSMTP?
Any app that supports remote MCP servers: Claude (web, desktop and mobile), ChatGPT developer mode, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Windsurf and others. The server URL is https://app.formsmtp.com/mcp.
Does it cost extra?
No. The MCP server is included on every plan, including Free. Emails your AI sends count toward your monthly limit like any other email.
Can the AI email anyone it wants?
Only within the rules you set. Each connection can be limited to one project and to read-only access, and every send still goes through the project’s allowed recipients and hourly limit. AI apps also ask you to confirm before a tool runs.
Does the AI see my SMTP password or API key?
No. The AI gets its own token, which you can revoke at any time. Your SMTP password stays encrypted on our server and project API keys are never shared over MCP.
How do I see what my AI did?
The AI & MCP page in the dashboard lists every action from the last 30 days, and emails sent by an assistant are marked “AI assistant” in your logs.
